Service of Welcome

We were pleased recently to welcome two new members of the Parish ministry team - Rev’d Mary Stallard, Chaplain to St Joseph’s School And Schools’ Development Officer, St Giles’ Centre for Religious Education and Amanda Berry as Parish Nurse.

Amanda Berry says “The Parish Nursing movement is founded upon a view of healthcare that derives from the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, and the belief that spiritual care cannot be separated from physical, emotional, and social care. As Parish Nurse I will be based at St Giles and will be working alongside the ministry team across the Benefice. My role will include promoting health in the congregation and local community, offering personal health advice, and undertaking health education programmes. As a health advocate I could possibly accompany people to stressful GP or hospital appointments if they so wish, and I hope to assist volunteers in church. I'm able to visit people at home or in hospital if needs be.

St Joseph’s School says of Rev’d Mary Stallard.:
The Wrexham Parochial Education Foundation was delighted to hear confirmation that Bishop Gregory Cameron of the Diocese of St Asaph had appointed Revd Mary Stallard to the role of Anglican Chaplain alongside a new developmental role across Wrexham.

Whereas our previous Anglican Chaplain worked at St Joseph’s for half of the week and spent the rest of the time with a Parish, half of Revd Mary’s time will still spent here at St Joseph’s, and the other half in fulfilling a new role, that of Development Officer with Wrexham Schools, for the Foundation, largely focussing on secondary schools and working in conjunction with the St Giles Centre.

A Welsh speaker, and former secondary school RE teacher, Rev’d Mary has a rich experience of ministry within the Anglican Communion, including as interim Director of Education to the Diocese, Chaplain to the Bishop and a host of other roles.  She is also a regular broadcaster, working with the BBC on the Radio 2 “God Slot”, and other broadcast programmes on BBC Wales, Radio Wales and Radio Cymru.  Rev’d Mary is mum to two daughters and her husband is the Vicar of Llangollen, where the family reside.
