MINUTES OF ST.MARGARET’S DISTRICT CHURCH
COUNCIL MEETING 25.11.10.
1. OPENING PRAYERS: Richard opened the meeting with Prayer.
2. PRESENT: Rev. Richard Hainsworth, Mrs Dorothy Lewis, Mrs Ruth Browning, Mrs Doris White, Mrs Chris Smith, Mrs Francis Dawson, Mrs Jean Morris, Mrs Helen Davies, Mrs Florence Probert ,Mr Malcolm Casey, Mr John Page, Mr Anthony Williams, Mr Dave Rogers, Mr Gwyn Edwards, Mr David Evans, Mr Brian Reader & Mrs Anne Casey.
3. APOLOGIES: Apologies were received from Mrs Brenda Jones, Mrs Mary Shaw, Mrs Irene Edwards & Mr Andy Paine.
4. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES 21.10.10. These minutes were accepted as a true and accurate record with the following amendments: apologies were received from Brian Reader and under Matters Arising: Prof. Leslie Edwards should read Prof Leslie Francis: and were duly signed.
5. MATTERS ARISING: Anne reported that a letter of thanks had been sent to Mr Geoff Ellis. Richard reported that he had received the Report from the Ecclesiastical Insurance Company and this had been given to The Wardens as this came under their remit. The Church was valued at £1,450.000. Insurance premium- £578.57 pa with an excess of £500 – not insured for Acts of Terrorism. Gwyn to attend to. Richard had contacted three Builders in connection with erecting a Porch at the front of the church, to date only two had visited and no quotes had been received. Regarding the drainage system, there is only a soak away outside the church, which would need to be altered to make suitable drainage for the kitchen area in the lounge. The Hall Committee to find out where the drains go and onto whose land, as permission to gain access would be needed, to assess the whole system. A quote had been received for the drainage down the right hand side of the church for the kitchen area of £1.120.00. Richard reported that the Application for Faculties for the lighting and the children’s play area had been sent for approval and they were due to meet on 13th December 2010.
6. TREASURER’S REPORT: October 31st 2010. C/A £8,364.62 D/A £8,298.03 . As of November 25th 2010 Development A/C £6,889.00 . £570.00 from C/A to Development A/C– share of tax aid. Donations received from the late Dulcie Tilley and the late Mike Lewis for the Development A/C
7. TCC: Helen invited the Committee to join the TCC. Helen said that there were still a few tickets available for Line Dancing on 10th December 2010.
8. NAMES OF POSSIBLE PEOPLE TO TRAIN FOR THE LAY MINISTRY: Richard asked the Committee to email or write down any people who they thought might be interested in training for this Ministry.
9. SERVICE/QUIET TIME/MEDITATION: Richard felt that as so many of the Congregation had had a difficult year, that the Christmas period would be quite a difficult for them, and suggested that as a Church we should do something for them. It was decided that the Church would be open on New Year’s Eve, from 11.00am-2.00pm and 7.00pm-8.00pm, for a period of quiet prayer and reflection .

11. A.O.B i. Christmas Tree: Over many years St. Margaret’s have been fortunate enough to receive a Christmas tree given to them, but this year this will not be the case. It was decided to purchase a real one for the Sanctuary and have the donated fake one in the Lounge. Richard to arrange for a real tree for the 16th December. Ii. Wine: Richard reported that the Wine had recently been changed and did not keep as long as previous wines. The wine is a cheaper fair-trade one and should there be any problems we would go back to a fair-trade fortified wine. Iii. Web- Site: St. Margaret’s Web site : www.Stmargaretswrexham.org.uk iv. Sub- Committee : Date of meeting to be confirmed later. v. Priest in Charge- AP to be Curate with Responsibility for St. James.
