The spacious hall was built in 1956 to a high specification including stage lighting and dressing rooms. A substantial part of the original cost of £13,000 was met by a bequest from the Estate of Mrs F W Morris, who had laid the foundation stone of St Margaret’s Church on the 14th March 1928.
The hall was reopened in April 2006 after extensive refurbishment funded by a grant of £140,000 from the Welsh Assembly.
Further grants in 2007 and 2008 from WREN, AVOW, Wrexham County Borough Council and the Welsh Assembly have enabled the purchase of new curtains, banquet tables and chairs and the refurbishment of the kitchen. St Margaret's Church & Community Hall is situated on the northern side of Wrexham, about 1 mile from the major A483 link road which serves Shropshire & South Wales in one direction and North Wales & Chester in the other.
St Margaret's Hall is situated within the grounds of St Margaret's Church and there is a shared entrance drive off Chester Road. The large open car park has recently been rebuilt to the highest standard and full security lighting is installed around both the Church and the Hall.
A ramped and stepped covered entrance leads though to the forum with toilet facilities for Ladies (with baby changing), Gents and a fully fitted disabled toilet. All are fitted with electric hand driers and cleaning facilities.
The main hall is through double doors off the forum. The main hall floor is sprung maple and there are large windows down each side. The main hall can seat approximately 200 people without tables, or approximately 100 people with tables.
Heating is by gas with radiators on both sides of the hall. All tables and chairs are in house and can be set out to your requirements (a charge is made for this service). There is a ramped double fire exit from the hall to the car park.
The kitchen has been refurbished to a high standard. It has a preparation area at one end and a servery with hatch at the other. There are stainless steel preparation units with a double stainless steel sink. Hot water is provided by a modern gas geyser. There is a fridge, cooker, microwave and an instant water heater. At the servery end are modern cupboards with more than 100 sets of cups, saucers, plates, etc.
At the opposite end to the main entrance is a self-contained meeting room, which can seat up to 12 people around a table (boardroom style) or up to 20 people seated in rows (theatre style). The meeting room has its own toilet, which is fully fitted for disabled use and a double ramped fire exit to the car park. |
